Life is Good!

I have had a really busy week. I have taken two amazing classes. I have photos of one complete project-a tag book. And the other, a junk mail journal is nearly completed. Those photos will appear soon. Since I work at the Music School at a University, this is a very busy time--there is literally a senior recital or a concert of some kind every evening. I have been meeting myself on the road to work morning and evening! But we only have a couple of weeks of classes left & we will have a little slower pace. Although the summer is filled with vacations, summer camps, summer classes, and a few large scale meetings, it is still a slower pace! More time to create & I am ready!

Cupcakes Anyone?

Cupcakes are so happy! These look pretty yummy, but actually they are paper mache and are little goodie boxes from the $1 aisle at Michael's! They are in an old apple stacker and now live on top of my antique china cabinet in the kitchen! Everytime I walk through and look up at them, I smile!

Happy April Fool's Day!

This is a bittersweet day for me. It is a day normally of practical jokes and laughter. It is also the anniversary of my mother's death! However--if you knew her, dying on April Fool's Day was probably something that made her giggle--even right at the end! She had an amazing sense of humor!

Something Old

Several years ago, my boss presented me with a very big, heavy box for my birthday. When I tore into it, this is what was inside. The most wonderful antique typewriter. I love it! I couldn't believe that he paid that much attention to what I said, that he actually shopped for this and bought it for me. Another year, he bought me a vintage lobster trap--it is so cool!

He is one of the reasons I have stayed at the same job for 25 years. What a great guy!

The Cupcake Place

Do you love cupcakes? Not the tiny little dry kind--burned on the bottom with the yucky frosting with no flavor. But the big, moist wonderful kind. The kind with flavor bursting out and creamy smooth wonderful frosting? In flavors like double chocolate, honey blueberry, key lime, old fashioned vanilla, banana??? You know that you do! Sara Sara Cupcake is your place too. The exterior is so beautiful, the inside is stark white with the beautiful cupcakes displayed like fine art! Good coffee, exotic teas, you can't go wrong. Check it out!

Something Old Made New

My husband has found a new passion in woodworking. This chair is one of 4 that are well over 75 years old. My mother bought them at an Estate Sale in the late '60's. They have a beautiful gate leg table that matches. The caned seats were basically rotten and he took them out and put in beautiful solid seats. He basically put the entire chair back together and it is solid now. No more squeaking; no more fear of falling to the floor! He did an amazing job. The chair looks better than it probably did brand new. He is now starting on chair #2.

Angels

I had such a good time putting this book together. It started with an email my sister sent Angels, as Described by Children. It had some very sweet, and intelligent descriptions of angels conjured up in the minds of children.

All angels are girls because you gotta wear dresses and boys didn't go for it. Antonio, age 9 Angels work for God and watch over kids when God has to go do somehthing else. Mitchell, age 7

How thoughtful children can be. How fun to put their sweet thoughts on paper with my art surrounding it.

Scraptopia!

I am getting really bad about this blog. I find myself creating away and not sharing. Last weekend I went to another retreat at Scraptopia. We had so much fun at the last on (2 weeks ago) that we decided to do it again. There is something so good about staying up until 3 or 4 AM, scraping, laughing, snacking, watching movies. It is such a great group that comes together. There is so much creativity that any artistic block I may have is broken down so quickly! I worked on many things--one is my Queen Book. It is a work in progress and here is the cover and one page from it. I will share more later.

Do Not Pay The Ransom!

I know most of you figured I had been kidnapped and was being help for ransom! Actually, no! I have been neglecting my blog and have been creating, traveling, scrapping and working! My latest projects have been framed mirror collages: this one is mine and I have made one for my sister. Each thing is meaningful to each of us. I absolutely love them.

And this is Boo. It is so hard to get a photo of Boo, because he is so black. But tonight he was
in a good light and almost smiled for me!
